Who would have thunk a guy with a last name like that
would go the extra mile (many many miles) for People
For the American Way? But anyone who listens to Mojo
Nixon's incredible music knows this man defines 21st
Century enlightened patriotism. Songs like "I Hate
Banks" and his cover of "This Land Is My Land" could
be contenders for the pledge of allegiance. Anyway,
when we asked Mojo to write out the lyrics to one of
his songs he agreed and promptly went to the Nixon
Library and dug up the actual original lined yellow
pages on which he first wrote the song "Hamlet Chicken
Plant Disaster" (from PRAIRIE HOME INVASION, the album
he did with ex-Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra). So
here it is-- two pages of genuine punk rock history
which Mojo removed from his pad, signed for us and
wrote "orig lyrics sheet." It's the tragic story of
how an anti-union factory owner's unbridled greed in
Hamlet, North Carolina brings catastrophe to his
minimum wage workers.
